GORNO-ALTAISK, July 28 (Itar-Tass) - The restoring repair of the third
hydroelectric generating set of the Baksan hydropower plant that was damaged in
a sabotage attack will be launched before the end of July. It is planned to
complete the HPP reconstruction in the second quarter of 2012, the press service
of the RusHydro company that operates the Baksan HPP reported.
On Tuesday, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said during a
teleconference that the Baksan HPP will be totally reequipped. “As for the
restoration, we planned capital repairs of the plant,” he said. “It is necessary
to reequip it and we will engage in this,” he stressed.
The reconstruction of the Baksan HPP in Kabardino-Balkaria may require about
1.5 billion roubles over eighteen months to two years, Russia’s First Prime
Minister Igor Sechin said earlier. “Roughly, we shall need about 1.5 billion
roubles,” he said. “The exact figure is to follow.” “Practically speaking, this
will be a new station,” Sechin said. “We shall surely use the existing
infrastructure, but anyway, we are speaking about a new station.”
